Open Source Copyrgiht? Suggestions?

I was thinking of making this an open source, free to use/share type database of information.
For reasons we can discuss, it would have to be copyrighted, but could be free to use, link to, or modify, provided the original source is credited and linked to.
No one should have an exclusive right to a group project, and resource, and it should be something that will out live any organization that maintains it. Work people put in should survive any sort of problems of time, money, or equipment.
So, please, some suggestions.
I'm more than willing to start out with any one who contributes information from their site, to get a full credit, link back, and mention in a supporters section.
